Experience New England

New England is a region of enormous scenic beauty and an intriguing destination due to the diversity of things to see and do in every season. The New England terrain consists of rolling hills covered in oak, maple, birch, and hemlock trees, and every season in New England is beautifully captured, with falling snow in winter to blooming spring flowers and colorful autumn leaves.

As early American settlers traveled through New England, many settled in Heritage Valley in Connecticut, the cradle of history for the Constitution state. Windsor Locks, located just across the Massachusetts border, is an ideal place to find cultural heritage, history, and diversity. This area is full of Native American heritage and the foundation of early American settlements. From the moment Dutch settlers moved to the Connecticut River valley in the early 17th century, they embraced the rich, fertile land and graceful countryside. The land was also inhabited by numerous Native American tribes. After several land disputes, many tribes dispersed, but artifacts and legends remain. With the successful operation of two of New England's best casinos, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, and the new Pequot Museum, Native American heritage is embraced.

Hartford, Connecticut's capital city, has a wealth of cultural activities for the traveler to New England, including concerts, plays, museums, theater, shopping, live entertainment, and diverse cuisine. Located just a few miles south, Hartford is a center for entertainment.

Autumn is the most noted season, with breathtaking foliage covering the rolling hills of New England, and Windsor Locks is a central place for autumn activities from where Connecticut's vineyards, apple orchards, antique shops, and festivals welcome visitors to New England. Halloween is a spooky event, with the 300-year-old trees, haunted hayrides, and whispering wind. Six Flags' Frightfest attracts families each year for a haunting experience.

With the first winter snowflake, New England is transformed. Winter sports thrive on mountains made for downhill skiing and snowboarding. Six notable mountains surround Windsor Locks, making the ski season a notable time. From the charming, snow-covered Victorian homes to winter sports and snowball games, winter in New England is a unique experience.

For those seeking a spring or summer experience, New England is considered one of the most pleasurable retreats during the warmer months. New England's numerous parks are perfect for hiking, biking, and picnicking, and the New England countryside blooms with color as spring flowers grow under the nurturing sun. A number of nearby parks welcome dogs for a complete fun-filled afternoon. No visit to New England would be complete without including a trip to Six Flags New England, with roller coasters, thrilling rides, games, and other activities for the whole family. A number of museums also enlighten and entertain. The Trolley Museum, Fire Museum, and New England Air Museum are just minutes away from the hotel.

Perhaps it is this ability to directly experience the heritage, attractions, and such unforgettable natural beauty that stays with visitors and makes a visit to New England such a unique and impressive experience.
